[ Another late night and a sudden awakening from a dream. It's another one of those evenings where she opts to endure on her own, by aimlessly wandering the ship until she exhausts herself.
Up until now, she hasn't had much of a chance to visit the Tommy Bahama after its change, which is now some place called Spirit Halloween. Only recently she learned what All Hallow's Eve is. She steps further into the store, clutching her plush teddy bear in her arm. While Judith was usually floating, she found comfort being able to physically hold the soft toy when she had a rough night.
After wandering the store awhile, she finds something of interest in the children's section for costumes. Cute princess outfits, animals... mainly. Nothing actually spooky for a spooky occasion. She sets her plush bear to the side to free up her hands and clutches the fabric of a princess costume dress. After a moment, she moves down the aisle to examine another dress. There's a huge variety here to keep her interest. And it's a huge, endless store that allows her to pass the time until she's ready to return to her cabin...
Fio doesn't expect anyone else to be present at this late hour. Clearly nothing but her and the company of the creepy Halloween displays! ]
That's a hard ask for him, when he's frustrated and hurt and in need of comfort and attention. He can't simply ask for that from Watson now, of course. No one is going to want anything to do with him, and so he's left alone... and he hates being alone.
He's sulking in the infinite Spirit, staring down the black cat decorations with flashing lightbulb eyes, when he hears movement up ahead. Peeking his head around a corner, he sees a young girl... probably younger than him by a few years, but... someone his age, at least.
...Can he really be blamed for wanting a friend?
He creeps closer, taking his knife out from his pocket, hiding behind a shelf every time she looks like she's about to turn.]
[ Next to the princess dresses, Fio comes upon the row of cute animal costumes. She reaches for one based off of a rabbit-- it comes with a mask, painted white with red eyes. Both creepy and cute at the same time. If someone else is around, she expects their presence would easily be made noticeable. No passenger on the ship has ever tried to startle her on purpose.
Yet, she has to pause suddenly. Glancing back, only to find no one. Only a couple of unsettling monster mannequins with their evil smiles and knives.
...They're fake. Walking past the displays multiple times already confirmed that. The only one with her is her stuffed bear. She turns back towards the costumes, feeling the fabric in her hands. ]
This one's pretty cute, huh, Judy? [ She poses the question to the plush bear that silently sits nearby. ] I like beautiful princesses. But maybe I could be a bunny... or a kitty...
[She really is so young. He feels a little guilty, that he's going to have to hurt her... it makes sense to pick people closer to the ages of his friends, but maybe it'd be easier to aim for an adult instead...
He holds his breath when she looks back, but before too long, she's turned back to the costumes, oblivious.
...No. He has to take this chance. She has no ability to defend herself, so there's no chance of her escaping and telling someone about the incident. It's for the best... as long as he gets one of his friends back.
He keeps that plea in his head as he uses his weight to push against the shelf, sending heavy decorations along with the shelving tumbling down towards her.]
[ A shame that there aren't any other children for her to go trick-or-treating with during the holiday. While she manages to find ways to enjoy herself being the only child on the ship at the moment, she still wishes there were others closer to her age... but it's a terrible thing to wish for. She knows how dangerous this ship can be.
There's noise coming from behind her, creaking, that she at first dismisses as an animatronic that might have automatically switched on. Up until a shadow starts looming over her, growing fast.
By the time Fio turns her head, it's far too late to safely maneuver out of the way. Barely letting out a shriek, only managing a wide-eyed look of shock and a single step... before the entire shelving, heavy with all sorts of decorations and other goods, topples over her small form.
As soon as her petite body hits the floor, along with everything, only her arm sticks out from underneath the display, completely still... ]
[And just like that, everything is silent. For a horrifying second, the world seems to stand completely still...
And then Omori rushes forward, pulling the shelving back off of her, unearthing the small girl's frail body. She looks awful... did he completely kill her?]
No... oh, no no no...
[He kneels beside her, taking her hand and squeezing it. She feels warm still... surely she wasn't completely crushed. Even if she broke some bones... it wouldn't be enough to kill her, right?]
[ Omori, you dummy! there goes a perfectly good body that could have been used for a possession! There's some blood trickling down the girl's head and who knows if there's some broken bones. It's hard to tell.
As he takes her hand, there's no movement. No reaction. Completely silent and motionless.
...
Then there's a sudden squeeze from the girl's small hand. Fio's body jerks awake. Or perhaps, the soul already took its place in the form just seconds after the shelving fell on her. She pulls herself to sit up and with a loud shout: ]
[Omori is relieved for a moment, feeling that hand squeeze his. It's warm and reassuring and he almost wants to believe it could be-]
Ah!
[He leans backwards in surprise when she suddenly jumps up, a little more startled than he used to be during their first cruise. He'll blame that on genuinely not expecting to see this person again.]
[ Her hand loosen and it's mostly just Omori putting in all the effort in holding her hand at this point. She wants to just lay there, wait for all the aches to go away. At the mention of making a doctor visit, she starts squirming around on the floor like an overturned turtle... ]
Nooooo, I don't wanna go to the doctorrrr...! No way! I'll get up, I'll get uuuppp!
[ Maybe she'll fetch a damp towel somewhere later and wipe off a bit of the blood. No big deal! She huffs stubbornly, pushing herself to sit up straight. Eventually she'll get to her feet, but let her sit awhile! ]
So who're you? I dooon't think you're Ib. Or Eleven. [ Squinting at the boy. He knew her name, so. One of her friends? Please be a friend! ] Totally not Pickles. [ Her face contorts as she thinks on the other possibilities. ]
[Omori huffs out a little half-sigh, half-laugh at Mary's antics. She really was a handful, but it was nice to see her being energetic even after the accident... and after so long in Nothing with the rest of them.
He reaches out to brush her hair back while she composes herself, shaking his head at her guesses.]
Nope, not Ib. Sorry. And not Eleven or Pickles... or Mikazuki.
[Thankfully, she guesses correctly after that, earning her a warm smile.]
[ Once he confirms her answer, she's far less annoyed than she looked earlier. Omori might only have just a second to touch her hair before she throws her small form at him, arms open for a hug. Sorry if any of the blood from her forehead gets on his clothing. ]
Omoriiii...! Yaaaaaaay...!
[ Suddenly she's cheerful, which is a look more fitting for her new body. Almost. Mary's upbeat personality might be cranked up several notches in comparison to Fio. ]
I missed you a whole bunch!
[ Ugh, she wants to cry how terrible just being Nothing was... but for once, in a long time, she'll express her joy. ]
[Omori is quite surprised by the sudden hug, but he's certainly not going to complain about it. His smile widens a bit as he pats her back, letting her be comfortable in the presence of a friend for a while.]
Did you really? I thought you'd be missing Ib way more...
[They were good friends, but he knows he isn't her best friend.]
10/11 (for Omori)
